This is a live role play event set in the land of Fenric. This is a small island country ruled by small kingdoms. They are joined together by a faith in the Spirits, and the fact that might is right; those that strive succeed. For many years they have lived in relative peace and solitude. However lately a small band of tradespeople, warriors and priests landed on the southern coast bringing with them trade, prosperity and a new religion that is liable to start a war (two out of three ain't bad). They hail from lands far away where they have established the mighty Arkan Empire; their faith belongs to the one god known to them as the Maker. The problem is that the priests and missionaries believe that the local magic is born from the enemy of their faith: the Crom Crauch.
Game Year One: The Maker priests managed to whip their people into a frenzy against the druids and the resulting riot turned into a large scale battle as the massing foreign military (The Legion) moved in to break it up. Misunderstanding, the Fenric elite (Red Branch) moved in to protect their druids. It came to blows and both sides left the battlefield badly damaged, and in response moved in yet more troops. Trade to a large extent broke off as more of the Legion was drafted in. The trading mission looked like turning into a full-scale war. It was at this point that a local lord, Bentic, Earl of a small earldom called Llougyr, called for a treaty on his land to get trade moving again. The treaty declares that any violent actions would result in the surviving perpetrators being handed over to the party offended against for punishment. While this is indeed a severe punishment, both the Arkans and the Fenn wonder if it will be enough. It seemed the forthcoming trade fair that Bentic declared on his land would be the true test of peace, honour and good will. The question is will right or might prevail? Game Year Two: Several years have gone past and that treaty has been ground into the dust by the passing of the shield walls of those driven by greed and hunger for power. Though in the first years all went well and the Vick Hunt Lord Wolfgar joined the treaty, putting aside his habitual hatred for the Arkans in the name of money. Within those first years the seeds of destruction where sown for in his power Ladikas of the kingdom of Gwyn brought raiders into Llougyr. Angered by this act of war Bentic challenged Ladikas to an honour battle and summarily took his head. Shortly after dark creatures began to appear in the land, collectively known as the Fomorie they moved subtly at first they appeared in small numbers to break up peaceful meetings. However when they realised their presence was more widely recognised they dispensed to some degree with subtlety and tried to destroy a druid circle and attack a trade meeting. Several people where killed and a Bishop of Gwent disappeared. Nothing as yet has been heard from him and all fear the worst. Gwent however perceived his disappearance to be the work of the druids and demanded justice. When Bentic claimed that he could, in all honesty, say that he knew of no man that had harmed Bishop Distus Gwent threatened war upon Llougyr. He was however curtailed by the emperor and so he seemed to be a threat no longer. However unable to make war personally he used spies and agents to fund and arm Gwyn against Llougyr. In alarm Bentic called for a peace summit and managed to convince Almat (Ladikus’s son) that he was being used. Almat agreed to the peace terms on the condition that Bentic supported him as High King. It was then that the Fomorie agents where proved to be amongst Almat's following, including his high druid. Bentic summarily pulled out of the peace talks, Roac the Gwyn high druid caused the appearance of Cym Don, an island on the eastern coast thought to have disappeared with the age of heroes. Game Year Three: It is now said that the forgotten dead walk there and that at times boats fly through the night from that dark isle to bolster Gwyn war bands with tattered banners from the barrows there. All is not entirely dark however; in the last year the Mourne have walked out of the old places and brought their old magic and spears to battle the Fomorie who have broken their ancient pact. The Fomorie however gave Almat the way to bring victory, they supplied him with a poison that would destroy crops and kill all that drank the water of the land or ate its food. Mad for vengeance and his mind twisted by Roac Almat declared himself High King and used the poison in great amounts against those that opposed him. Of course the land was sundered by its use. People died in there hundreds, whole villages where wiped out. The Arkans more or less left the land, leaving only those sent by the Emperor in exile or unable to leave. Many brave and stout hearted warbands attempted to stop the madness but they where outwitted by the Fomorie and there efforts futile. No Healers seemed available and in desperation measures where taken that had a terrible affect upon the world. Meeting in secret a Cabal of Druids smashed the King Stone, the stone on which a High King must be crowned and acclaimed to receive his title. The world shook. In the Vick lands there High King faltered, and came near to death. Alamat died of his own poison. Every noble in Fenrik felt the loss of there status, for without the stone to hold it all together the very fabric of civilization wobbled on its axis. Game Year Four: Without a High King Fenrik was a truly a host of small warbands pecking at each other. The undead problem became worse and a Fomorie walked the land claiming to heal those that came to him. Several new Earls where put forward but none seemed to last. A warband was sent out to track an undead band that was penetrating deep into Fenric, they found it at a burnt out hovel, with a dead Arkan hermit who seemed to have been hoarding parchments from centuries before. They promptly lost the documents. The Moune finally lost there temper with the Humans and a break away sect. from both courts has begun to raise the Sun King, a famous Mourne war leader who lead a genocide war against humanity. A Fenn warband attacked the Arkan costal settlement and those responsible lead by the once Earl Bentic went out to make amends for the there cowardly actions. There the Bentic the Boar of Lloegyr was slain fighting the Fomorie valiantly in hand to hand combat. In desperation those with him took what action they could, using the Healing elixier of the Fomorie they brought him back. However his mind snapped. For months he has roamed the woods gathering landless men and villains of the vilest sort. Present Day: There is no High King. Bentic is leading his men on a rampage of destruction The Sun King is rising in the North. The Arkan Emperor is dieing. None of the Ancient Legendary Items that Scrolls recovered from the Arkan Hermit had alluded to have been found. |
